One issue: On the Mill, The welded in bolt for mounting the guards. One of the bolts was not centered properly and the Guard had to be modified so that it would fit. Right side only. Left side was perfect.

Purchased the Hunter portable sawmill to cut logs into lumber. Instead of paying a logger to clear and take the logs, I decided to do it myself. This is a very well-made piece of equipment! I have cut a number of logs, mostly oak, 16-20″ in diameter. This sawmill does the job! Portable, so you can bring it to the site and mill on the spot.

I am in my first week of owning this mill and I am loving it. My only complaint about this was the shipping company, however Mike from shipping went above and beyond to help me remedy the issue. At this point I am learning and honestly this is 100% my first sawmilling experience, and have had a back ground in metal working , gardening, recycling, wood working and cnc carving and by far this has over all been the best experience so far.
So to sum it all up and hopefully I will get some time to review this on YouTube at a later date.
1. They have great customer service. and an excellent product and well priced.
2. The assembly video kind of dry but it is so step by step as long as you can play Simon says you will most likely not have an issue.
3. A great saw mill to learn with from a beginners point of view.

I have owned this mill for over 2 years now. It has been through 12 blades and around 1,000 bft of dense Missouri hardwood. Once the machine was assembled which took some man hours to align everything to our precise tolerance, It has had zero issues outside of maintenance. It did take time fine tuning of the process to produce bft at the machines max. I rate 5 stars based on durability of carriage along with quality of steel as well as performance and the ease of maintenance/ repairs.

About 3 years ago I purchased the Hud-Son Hunter, from an individual that had bought it and never assembled it. I have had it on a homemade trailer since I assembled it, and it has worked very well for me. I decided there is really no need for my mill to be portable, so I am in the process of pouring concrete in sono tubes and mounting it more permanently. Also, I am re-doing the sub frame and extending it to 20ft. I am also replacing the tracks with 1 piece steel. On top of all of that it will be housed in a new building instead of sawing out in the open.
Some day I may upgrade to a fully hydraulic mill but for now this mill serves me very well. I primarily saw erc but have milled up just about every type of tree known in Missouri.
Thank you Hud-Son for producing a quality mill.
